Penelope Cruz, Jude Law, and Owen Wilson to star in Nancy Meyers' new festive film
Penelope Cruz, Jude Law, and Owen Wilson have joined the cast of Nancy Meyers' new festive film.
The 76-year-old filmmaker - who helmed and co-wrote 2006 romantic comedy The Holiday - is to direct her first movie for 11 years, and the as-yet untitled Warner Bros. comedy will be released on Christmas Day 2027.
As well as Cruz, Law and Wilson, Meyers has confirmed Kieran Culkin and Emma Mackey are also part of the star-studded cast.
Meyers shared a screenshot of The Hollywood Reporter's story about the forthcoming film, and confirmed the five stars are all attached to the project.
She wrote on Instagram: "Happy to share my new movie with this fantastic cast is in the works and will be released on Christmas Day 2027! See you at the movies!"
Several stars took to the comments to express their delight about Meyers' return behind the camera, including model Lily Aldridge.
She wrote: "This is the best news EVERRRRRR!!! Can’t wait (sic)"
Actress Grace Van Dien commented: "best news of 2026"
Multiple sources told Variety that the upcoming movie is a version of film Paris Paramount, which Meyers previously had in the works at Netflix in spring 2023.
Cruz, Wilson, Scarlett Johansson, and Michael Fassbender were all said to be in talks to appear in the motion picture, but it was never released.
In March 2023, Meyers wrote on Instagram: "There’s been a lot written about my new film. Here’s one thing I can easily clear up - and that’s the title - PARIS PARAMOUNT. It’s from a quote by the brilliant and elegant comedy director (dare I say creator of the romantic comedy) Ernst Lubitsch. The movie is about a group of people making a film and the magic and mystery of what we do. As always, Lubitsch said it best. (sic)"
Just two months later, Wilson told The Hollywood Reporter: "Originally, it was intended as a streaming movie, but now maybe it'll be theatrical (with Warner Bros.), and that seems like what you would want and expect from a Nancy Meyers movie."
The Paint star revealed some of the discussions he had with The Parent Trap' director before signing up for the project.
Wilson added: "She just loves movies, and that’s what makes it fun - talking with her about the way this movie will look and the references for it through some of the older movies that she loves that I also love."
