Irina Shayk and Chris Fleming join The Catch

Irina Shayk and Chris Fleming have joined the cast of The Catch.

The Hercules actress and the 39-year-old comedian will star in Universal Pictures' upcoming baseball-themed romantic comedy alongside Emma Stone and Chris Pine, Deadline reports.

Plot details for the film - which will be directed by Emma's husband Dave McCary - remain under wraps so it is not yet known what roles Irina and Chris will be playing.

The Catch also features previously-announced cast members Tim Robbins, Sissy Spacek, Ashley Padilla and Druski.

Emma was the first to sign on for The Catch, which has been written by Patrick Kang and Michael Levin, and according to reports, once it became known that the Bugonia actress was looking at the project, several stars put themselves forward for the male lead but Chris landed it after multiple meetings with producers and executives.

Shawn Levy and Dan Levine will produce through 21 Laps, as will Emma, Dave and Ali Herting through Fruit Tree - who have a first-look deal with Universal - and Michael H. Weber.

Meanwhile, Emma previously spoke of how she had to "play dead" when getting her head shaved on camera for her role in Bugonia because she was so paranoid she'd mess up the take by moving as co-star Aidan Delbis lopped off her locks.

Asked what she was thinking when he removed her hair, she told Entertainment Weekly: "Stay still. That was it. I was meditating on stay still, just stay still.

"Because I am not awake there, I was like, play dead, basically, play dead.

"It was one take and there were four cameras set up just to make sure."

As well as having a shaved head, Emma's character Michelle Fuller had to deal with kidnappers Teddy (Jesse Plemons) and Don's (Delbis) mission to dull her alien powers by applying lots of lotion over her body.

She remembered: "It was a combination of [creams] and there were many tests of all different ones because it goes through all different layers.

"And turns out human skin hovers around 98.6 degrees, and that's a melting point for a lot of creams. So making that stuff last all day - tricky.

"The pores take it in, it thins out. So it was a combination of things, depending on the day, different foundations, moisturisers. It was a fun test, though."
